With just eight games of their league season remaining, Leicester City stood proudly on top of the Division 1 table, one point clear of title rivals Tottenham, three ahead of Everton and six clear of Burnley. Their destiny was in their own hands.
 
Furthermore, by beating Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, Leicester reached the final, where they would meet Manchester United who were having a very poor season.
